Screven County Crisis Fund

The Screven County Crisis Fund was established on March 19, 1992 to provide emergency assistance (food, rent, utilities, prescriptions, medical and etc.) to those that have unforeseen problems.  The agency is funded by United Way of Screven County.

Fire

Agreement with the Savannah Chapter of American Red Cross.

Health $300.00 Medical, dental, support hose, medical supplies, etc.
Transportation $125.00 1) Trips for medical care. Not to exceed total cost of $125.00.
2) For those who can find someone to take them for medical care, the Crisis Fund will arrange for gas to be charged not to exceed $125.00. Must use self-serve pumps and regular gas whenever possible.
Transit Needs $125.00 No cash given.  May include motel, gas, bus ticket, meal
Special Needs $250.00 No cash given.  May include help toward items for the handicapped, child care when parent is in hospital, insurance premiums at work place only, anything out of the ordinary may be approved
Rent/Mortgage $350.00 For one month only.  Exception:  If a hard working employee under certain factors approved by Crisis Committee, help may be given again
Energy Assistance $300.00 Only for the elderly, someone on life support or a home with children under 3 years old. One month only.  Exception:  For employees that have worked regularly and are temporarily out of work - 1 time only.
Home Modification $400.00 For materials only.  To be used for handicap ramps, house repairs for the elderly
Prescription Drugs $150.00  
Unexpected Death $250.00 Not for funeral expense.  To be used for unexpected hardship on the family.  Screven County Residents only.

For special circumstances, a second or third time for assistance may be approved by at least 3 crisis fund board members.  Under certain factors, clients can receive help in more than one area.
