Greetings,

The members of the Sylvania City Council and I welcome you to the Screven County Community Network.  Sylvania, Georgia, population of 2,871, is the county seat of Screven County.  Sylvania is a small southern city located a short drive from the eastern coast of Georgia.  Sylvania is a quiet community boasting low crime rates with many benefits like top quality schools, churches, and a local hospital.  One of the biggest advantages to living in Sylvania is the closeness of the community.  Everyone is very friendly, and warmly welcomes visitors and newcomers alike.  It is a wonderful place to bring up children and is comparable to a Norman Rockwell setting.

We have a nine-hole golf course, a driving range, and a putting green at our Briar Creek Country Club, along with tennis courts and swimming pool.  We have a state owned hunting preserves and many private clubs.  The hunting and fishing in our county is great.  We also have four local banks with assets totaling over $140 million.  We have 65 local churches, six motels and two shopping centers. We have a local newspaper (The Sylvania Telephone), two radio stations, two telephone suppliers and local cable service.
